O’s Notes: Legendary pianist, Red Garland recorded this solo session in 1960 as a part of Prestige Records’ Moodsville Series. It is a warm set of eight classics. The beauty of effort is that it captures all of the nuances of Red, things easily overlooked in an ensemble but pleasurable and noteworthy. This ‘relaxed’ jazz became popular in the sixties and is again popular today as an intricate form of jazz that is not overwhelming. It is easy on the ears!
