O’s Notes: Ruth has a deep raspy voice that is complemented nicely by Herb Geller (alto sax). The rest of the band is also very good with Walter Lang (p), Wolfgang Lackerschmid (vibes) and Rocky Knauer (b). They keep time pretty well without a drummer. Young played with the legendary Chet Baker and she has many of his characteristics including a smoky tone and lots of natural feeling and expression. The program consists of a dozen classic tunes, dedicated to Chet. It is like a vocal rendition of his work.
