O’s Notes: The late Rick James was an R&B icon who helped define the space in the late 1970s and early 1980s. While he drifted in and out of trouble late in his career, his contributions can’t be denied. Deeper Still features some of his last work. It has that signature Slick Rick sound including guitars, spoken word, vocals and catchy riffs. Only a few minutes into the CD you can take a trip back to Rick’s glory days. Check out “Taste”, “Stroke” and the ballad “Sapphire” to get a true sample of how Rick rocked the world. The CD is being released along with an autobiographical book. It’s sure to appeal to old fans.
