O’s Notes: The Klezmer Band was formed 23 years ago by director Hankus Netsky leading a revival of klezmer music.. It’s a large ensemble of talented musicians. The feel of the music is jovial, almost like a circus atmosphere. They really swing on “Khaye Sho” before “Bessarabarian Breakdown” with the funky hip-hop bass and drum duet. The variety doesn’t stop there as the session includes Jewish folk songs, German ballads and dance tunes. Lyrics are in Yiddish but the feeling is easily understood. The words move along with the music, accented by lively strings.
