O’s Notes: Soren Skov Orbit is a five-piece band founded by Danish saxophonist Soren Skov and keyboardist Peder Vind in 2016. Casper Nyvang Rask (b), Rune Lohse (d) and Ayi Solomon (perc) round out the band. Their music is heavily improvised, modern jazz along the lines of Coltrane and Sun Ra. They open with the eerie “Notifications of Nothingness”, move towards the hardbop of “Reflections of Rif”, followed by our favorite, “Narration” with a generous dose of percussion. The more we listened, the more we engaged!
