O’s Notes: Clarinetist Aaron Irwin leads a modern jazz quartet on his latest release (After). Narration comes from Bonita Oliver on “Fredrick Douglas”, Joshua Mehigan for “The Hill”, and Emily Wong on “Daniel Boone”. There a bit of country twang owed to guitarist Mike Baggetta with drummer Jeff Hirshfield keeping time. Irwin shines across this collection of nine selections. Highlights include “Pikes Peak”, “When I Heard At The Close Of The Day”, and the distant feeling of “The Cemetery”.
