O’s Notes: Toronto-based bassist Bret Higgins anchors a quintet with Aleksandar Gajic (violin), Robbie Grunwald (keyboards), Tom Juhas (g) and Joshua Van Tassel (d) for his latest release Atlas Revolt. The groove is an eclectic, electronic progressive rock with some retro-British pop and klezmer weaved into the mix on “Sanan”. Tempo and attack are varied keeping things interesting. We liked “Jakaranda” best of the ten selections. We had some skipping troubles on the first track on all of our CD players.
