O’s Notes: Veteran jazz pianist Kenny Werner leads a quintet with a formidable cast including Randy Brecker (t), David Sanchez (Sax), John Patitucci (b) and Antonio Sanchez (d). The session was recorded live at the Blue Note in New York during April 2010 consisting of four length compositions. Each piece is thoughtfully constructed with well-developed melodies that allow the musicians to express their heartfelt emotions as opposed to rushed attempts to display their chops. Our favorites are “Siena” and “Class Dismissed” with a riveting drum solo”.
