O’s Notes: Dan is a music educator and performer in Thailand where he has assembled a quartet to perform cool fusion sounds with more free form standards written by Monk and Trane. The band includes local artists Chanutr Techatana-nan (d) and Pornchart Viriyapark (b) along with Danish saxophonist Jakob Dinesen. Phillips plays most of the melodies sprinting across the fret board while Dinesen tempers the attack with more relaxed melodies.
