O’s Notes: Baritone saxophonist Aaron Lington and trumpeter Paul Tynan are the headliners in this brassy large ensemble called The Bicoastal Collective.“Bicoastal Collective: Chapter Five“features musicians who mostly studied at the University of North Texas. Tynan and Lington contribute four originals each to a modern jazz program that opens with an electrifying setting on “Two Views” featuring Tynan. Noel Johnson warms up with his first of many great guitar solos on “I Remember Every Day”. Another fine example is on “Four Taiwanese Folk Melodies” that also includes generous solos from the brass section and pianist Josh Hanlon. This is a well-balanced session featuring many musicians.
