O’s Notes: There are a lot of en’s but there is even more satisfaction with Nnenna, a veteran jazz singer in every aspect. She feels the emotion of the songs and extends that feeling to the listener. While she is easily able to stand on her own, this session includes excellent accompaniment. The band never overwhelms but always compliments, especially on “Don’t Explain”. Freelon has one of her best performances here, one that we truly enjoyed listening to!
