O’s Notes: Carol is singing a set of thirteen popular and Latin songs. It’s a happy set including “Hold Me”, “What A Fool Believes” and “Eu Vim De Bahia”. Welsman is proud to sing some of the songs in foreign languages and they come together well. The music comes from Jimmy Haslip (b), Jimmy Branly (d), Pierre Coté (g) and Carol on keyboards. Special guests Eric Marienthal (sax), Vern Dorge (sax) and John Acosta (g, vocals) join in to provide a solid backdrop for Welsman’s vocals. It’s a spicy session of contemporary Latin vocal jazz.
