O’s Notes: Greg (sax) leads an atypical trio with drummer Jeff ‘Tain’ Watts and Matt Brewer on bass. Their sound however is complex. Matt echoes Greg on “Vertical Hold” while Watts adds the glue, filling all of the gaps. The titles are all related to television and the programming is courtesy of Osby save a couple of tracks written by Ornette Coleman and Eric Dolphy. Some of the beats seem just out of focus and on the blue side but are always well controlled. If you can tune in to their vibe, you will find treasures.
