O’s Notes: Nora is a singer, a poet and a lyricist. She uses lots of expression and improvisation to transform six standards into her own likeness. She also sings three originals notably “Life Is A Song To Sing”. Pianist John DiMartino is the lone accompaniment leaving McCarthy fully exposed. It is a risky endeavor that Nora handles with confidence. She sings about all elements of life in this emotionally rich performance. Highlights are “Come Fly With Me” “Too Late Now” and the bluesy “Little Red Rooster”.
