O’s Notes: The Rippingtons have been making contemporary jazz for over 25 years led by Russ Freeman (g, keyboards). The latest edition is a festive smooth album with lots of Latin flavor as suggested by the title. It was inspired by many trips to Cote D’Azur, the home of Freeman’s father-in-law. Russ had a hand in composing all of the music and got help from his wife Yarredt Leon on two selections. We liked the radio friendly “Bandol”, “Provence” and “Postcard From Cannes”. It will resonate with their large fan base.
