O’s Notes: Trumpeter Larry Douglas was based in San Francisco but now lives in Atlanta. He also plays quite a few other instruments and has performed with many artists over the past decades. Douglas plays to his inner self and enjoys sharing that spirit with others. Dedications was released honoring his late son (1973) during the pandemic when many of us faced losses. But rather than dwell on the pain, he celebrates the good spirits with energetic music, all six selections. “Illusions” is among the best but if you get a chance to be in Larry’s presence, take it and feel the energy!
