O’s Notes: Pianist Noah Haidu forms a core trio with drummer Billy Hart and Todd Coolman on bass. He also invites several guests to join notably Steve Wilson (a-sax, sax) and Jon Irabagon (t-sax, s-sax). The focus of Doctone is music of the late Kenny Kirkland, mostly his early work. Noah was truly inspired by Kirkland as were many other pianists. In addition to the audio focus on Kenny’s work as a composer, Doctone includes two other elements: a film documentary (trailer) and a compilation of interviews with his peers that highlight Kirkland as a person and a musician.
