O’s Notes: Brad Shepik (g, tambura, sax, banjo), also known as Brad Schoeppach leads a quintet with Layale Chaker (violin), Amino Belyamani (p), Sam Minaie (b), and John Hadfield (d, perc) in the next phase of his Human Activity: Dream of the Possible. This edition is focused on climate change, written as an inspiration to provoke actions impacting the demise of our planet, a response to the Climate Report in 2021. Chaker’s presence is notable and complimentary to Shepik’s string work throughout the set. The music is jazz fusion with Asian flavors on “Symbioticity” and “Future Generations”. We also enjoyed the racy “Travel Back”, the relaxed “Naturitude”, and “All Hands”.
