O’s Notes: Noah leads this edgy fusion band on sax with Russ Johnson (t), Ben Monder (g) Frank Kimbrough (p), John Herbert (b) and Ted Poor (d). These talented musicians stretch out over nine tracks, mostly new Preminger originals. Things range from the free fusion and open improvisation on tunes like “Today Is Okay” to the melancholy tones of “Blues for Steve Lacy” and the racy “Sax of A Kind” highlighted by Poor’s work on drums. You are sure to lock in of one of the modes. The overall effort is good.
