O’s Notes: Fra Fra sound was born in Amsterdam and has toured the world playing contemporary jazz music. They play a combination of African, Caribbean and urban American music with syncopated beats and strong harmonies. Producer and bassist Vincent Henar anchors the solid rhythm section. Andre Biswane (g) makes a strong contribution as well on songs like “GK”. The horns, Efraïm Truillo (sax) and Michael Simon (t) have a continuous presence with sharp accents and warm melodies. We liked the groove on “100% Halal”, “Gettin’ Ahead” and “Nahawi”. This is solid upbeat world jazz.
