O’s Notes: Earprint is a quartet with saxophonist Kevin Sun, Tre Palmedo playing trumpet, bassist Simon Willson, and Dor Herskovits on drums. They are all standout, assertive musicians who find a way to complement each other, while expressing themselves in entirety. You can extract enjoyment by following each musician individually or as a harmonized unit. The CD is billed as ‘Easy Listening‘ but our take is that it’s more complex than pop-contemporary jazz, it’s more modern jazz with a wealth of improvising. Each musician contributes original compositions for a varied, spirited session.
