O’s Notes: The young bassist Pedro Giraudo is a masterful composer and arranger who successfully harness the talents of this large ensemble. It is a powerful 12-piece brass laden band including Will Vinson on alto and soprano saxes. Alejandro Aviles (as, cl) makes guest appearances on two tracks as well. The program is well titled as the music consists of the many elements encountered on a voyage. We particularly enjoyed “El Viaje”, a four-part piece with lots of motion and dynamics. The mix of tempo and feel is captured in an exceptional audio recording making this a symphonic living room experience.
