O’s Notes: Sometimes tragedy can birth incredible passion, ultimately pleasurable passion. Chris McNulty lost her son Sam tragically in 2011. She decided to commemorate an album in his memory assembling an incredible team starting with pianist/conductor Steve Newcomb. Add the world-class trio of arranger John Di Martino (p), Ugonna Okegwo (b) and Gregory Hutchinson (d) and your have the essential ingredients for success. Paul Bollenback (g) and Matthew Jodrell (flugelhorn) lead a group of guest soloists who further embellish the session.
