O’s Notes: Steve plays sax and leads a solid quartet with guitarist Dave Stryker, Ed Howard on bass and drummer McClenty Hunter. Slagle composed six of the nine tracks and takes the liberty to explode on his canvass. They ease into the set but are firing on all cylinders on Stryker’s “Supermoon”. That intensity is sustained through “Shadowboxing” and “Alive”, the core of the set. Steve also shows a mellow side on “Quiet Folks and the finale balancing the set and making Evensong a strong outing.
