O’s Notes: Jim Alfredson mans the B3 and leads a band with Michael Dease (tb), Alex Sipiagin (t), Diego Rivera (sax), Will Bernard (g) and EJ Strickland (d) on Family Business. They’re cookin’ on “Foster Blues”, with crisp horn harmonies on “Winkin’, Blinkin’, and Nod”, before simmering on “REO Town”. They get funky on “The Side Eye”, and the entire crew gets involved on the mellow, relaxed title track. Alfredson is at the heart of it all with 7 originals plus one from Dease, and the cool cover of “Peepin”.
