O’s Notes: Basketball is behind him and bass man Wayman Tisdale is not just a flash in the pan. He has demonstrated equally strong prowess on the contemporary jazz front, as well as he did on the court. Hang Time is a very good effort with help from the masterful Jeff Lorber on songs like “Creative Juices” and “Everything In You”. There are also well-done covers of classic R&B tunes like “Ain’t No Stoppin’ Us Now” where Wayman takes the melody on bass with Mel Brown (b) anchoring the traditional lower register. Tisdale contributes to the writing on some of the mid tempo relaxers as well. Pick it up!
