O’s Notes: NY-based saxophonist Caleb Wheeler Curtis is a jazz artist who is not bashful expressing himself on Heat Map. Pianist Orrin Evans, bassist Eric Revis, and drummer Gerald Cleaver join him playing ten original compositions. The music ranges from hard bop to warm ballads with more emphasis on the former. We liked “Tossed Aside”, “Trembling” and “Whisperchant”.
