O’s Notes: These blues are popping, complete with ragtime piano and vocals by McShann and a little sax from Jim Galloway. We especially liked the live version of “Hootie Blues” including a swinging solo from Rosemary Galloway on bass. Don Vickery keeps time on drums. There’s a touch of romance on the sentimental notes of “I’ll Catch The Sun”, one of many old time favorites. The session is topped off with a very informative interview of Jay and his life playing the blues.
