O’s Notes: New York-based Japanese pianist and composer Miki’s Yamanaka focuses on the human experience through music on Human Dust Suite. Threads of Monk permeate the opener, “Preschool” and the intensity builds on “March” before the core 5-part title track. The sax (Anthony Orji) and piano interplay on the soothing Human Dust Suite is excellent. They wrap up with “Berkshire Blues” rotating the spotlight around the band.
