O’s Notes: This is an exciting live session recorded by Swiss radio in 1953. While Oscar is the bandleader on piano, he shares the stage with some of the finest jazz musicians including Barney Kessel (g) and Ray Brown (b). Drummer J.C. Heard and Charlie Shavers (t) play strong solos on “Cottontail” and Lester Young’s work on “I Cover The Waterfront” is exceptional. The 20 minute opener “C-Jam Blues” is worth the price of the CD alone!
