O’s Notes: This is the second release from Senegalese singer, composer Momi Maiga, a blend of world jazz instrumentals and vocals. Maiga marries traditional native music with contemporary rhythms to create his own fresh signature. Aleix Tobias (perc), Carlos Montfort (violin), and Marçal Ayats (cello, vocals) round out the quartet. We liked “Mbolo”, “Yar”, “Salia”, and the title track in a set that is sticky!
