O’s Notes: Unlike his last two recordings, Steve is focused here on his own music. He forms a quintet with some fine musicians including vibraphonist Stefon Harris and bassist Peter Washington. There is also a guest appearance from Turre’s wife, Akua Dixon, a cellist. Her influence on a few of the tunes provides unique coloration and a sound that is fresh and pleasing especially on “My Funny Valentine”.
