O’s Notes: The trio, Jody Nardone (p), Tim Landers (b) and Ian Wallace (d) has transformed this rock-based material into jazz. It’s not rock fusion but truly jazz, more of a neobop/fusion. In fact, if you weren’t familiar with the King Crimson Songbook, you would think this material was written for this performance (you do get a hint during the drum solo on “Starless”), and upbeat, energetic and inviting session that had us bobbing our head and feeling it. We particularly liked the use of the dog on “Cat Food”! We think they have a winning performance here.
