O’s Notes: Roger is a cabaret/blues style singer from Scotland who settled in LA several years ago. This is his second solo release and he is focused on jazz standards. “How Am I To Know” is mellow with bossa nova rhythms featuring Matt Otto on tenor sax. Matt shines throughout the set, swinging on “Moonlight Becomes You”. The band gets funky opening “To The Ends Of the Earth” anchored by keyboardist Gary Fukushima. They hold that groove for “Stormy Monday” another of the highlights. We also liked “If Love Were All”. Cairns has a unique vocal signature that will appeal to a select audience.
