O’s Notes: Drummer Matt Slocum leads a trio with tenor saxophonist Walter Smith III and bassist Larry Grenadier for Lion Dance, a set of mostly original music. We liked the title track, the seductive “What Is There To Say?”, the cool “This Is All I Ask”, and Monk’s straight up “We See”. The live-to-two-track recording results in a realistic listening experience.
