O’s Notes: This is really a swinging session led by the warm bubbly tenor sax of Phillips. The intensity of a live performance comes through – you can feel it! It was recorded at the now defunct Florida club, 25 songs in all back in 1977 and 1978. Flip is joined by Tom Howard (keyboards), Don McLean (d) and either Joe Reichgott or John Mason on bass. The quartet is a tight unit but so precise as to be sterile.
