O’s Notes: Jazz saxophonist, composer Troy Roberts brings us an intoxicating performance Live at Perth Jazz Festival. Twelve selections were performed over two successive nights delighting listeners immensely! They open Saturday with “Funkafarian” to a fully engaged audience in Roberts’ birth country. We enjoyed the heavily syncopated “Big Night In”, the racing fusion of “Psychoville” including a rousing drum solo from David Chiverton. Sunday starts with a touch of jazz fusion on “Convertible Burt” featuring guitarist Tim Jago and bassist Eric England before Troy opens on “Fame & Four Tune”. They wrap up with “Stoner” featuring Jago and Roberts capping a super album.
