O’s Notes: The trio is John Beasley (keyboards), José Gola (b), and Horacio “El Negro” Hernandez (d) for an energetic set Live In Italy at an undisclosed location. We liked the pulse of “En 4” with solid bass work by Gola, the percussive laden “Timbeando” that reminded us of Weather Report, and “Arroz Con Mango”. We also enjoyed “Elegant People” and the funky “Sierra” in a super Latin-fusion album.
