O’s Notes: Pianist Michael Wolff has enjoyed success behind many famous artists and leading bands on TV and on the jazz scene. In August 30-31, 2011 he was captured Live at Vitellos in Los Angeles with Mark Islam (t, flugelhorn), Mike Clark (d) and John B. Williams (b). They play a wide variety of styles from the opening warm tones of “Ballad Noir” to the funky “Falling Down”. They open up a bit on “Lagniappe” as Wolff and Isham work the front line while Williams and Clark make it pop and sizzle.
