O’s Notes: Latin American pianist Danilo Perez matches his talent with the Swedish Bohuslän Big Band on his latest encounter. The music is heavily syncopated with lots of percussion and vibrant piano from the masterful Perez. There are also edgy ballads like “Suite For The Americas” featuring soprano saxophonist Joakim Rolandsson. We also enjoyed the adventurous “Expeditions” and “Galactic Panama”. Collectively Perez surfaces many emotions on Lumen with the help of the large ensemble.
