O’s Notes: Italian drummer and composer Giuseppe Paradiso culminated his studies at Berklee and has remained in Boston performing in a multitude of venues, on TV, and touring. His band is Meridian 71 including Phil Grenadier (t, flugelhorn), Mark Zaleski (sax, cl), Phil Sargent (g) and Galen Willett (b). Metropolitan Sketches is their sophomore release, containing mostly originals that blend Mediterranean and African beats with modern jazz. We enjoyed “Tuntkah”, “A Partial Life Story” and the title track.
