O’s Notes: Hilario (p) leads a very dynamic trio with Mark Kelso (d) and Roberto Occhipinti (b). He composed and arranged all of the music except “Danza Negra”. They open with two very spirited selections before bathing us with “Haana City” a ballad featuring The Pandemonium Strings and some nice percussive work by Joaquin Hildalgo. The guests don’t steal the spotlight from the trio however as each of them shine at appropriate points along the way. We enjoyed Duran’s syncopated melodies on “For Emiliano” and “Tango Moruno” with “Timba en Trampa” being a showcase for all.
