O’s Notes: Violinist and arranger Meg Okura celebrates the music of Japanese techno pop musician, composer and film score icon Ryuichi Sakamoto. While this music is usually slanted towards pop audiences, Meg performs it in front of the Pan Asian Chamber Jazz Ensemble, a polished group that ushers the music into contemporary jazz space. They drift into free space on “Grief” but otherwise this transformation is easy to embrace.
