O’s Notes: Benjamin presents us with unique vocal arrangements of nine jazz classics including one of her own. Her phrasing is unique and atypical but her words are clearly articulated and emotional. She inserts blue tones from time to time that can be either hit or miss with listeners. Her backing trio is good especially pianist Stephen Scott. Our favorite of the set was “Something to Live For”.
