O’s Notes: Necessary Arrangements is a generally upbeat, positive sounding collection of classics sung by Jackie Messina. There’s a nice bass solo from Paul Beaudry on “Show Me” with cool harmonica accents by Will Galison, also on “Slow Hot Wind” and throughout the set. Pianist Bruce Barth keeps the band together and adds a few solos along the way as on “I Feel Pretty”. Messina’s arrangements complement her voice and her band notably on a fine rendition of “Alfie”.
