O’s Notes: Drummer, composer and educator Yoron Israel leads a fine band in multiple configurations with Will Slater (b), Davis Eure (violin), Bill Pierce (sax) and pianists Michael Cochrane or Kevin Harris (p). They have seamless exchanges, always deferring to the lead melody with space and support as on “Lonely Moments”. Nedelka Prescod adds vocals on three selections notably “Amaylah’s Song”. We loved Eure’s work on “Child’s Play” and again on “Morning Song” with string samples by Matthew Nichols and Israel’s kalimba introduction!
