O’s Notes: This is a swinging set of nine tunes led by pianist Mike LeDonne. He has bassist Ron Carter and Joe Farnsworth (d) with him, both formidable polished musicians. The set is upbeat with jazzy versions of popular songs like Stevie Wonder’s “Don’t You Worry ‘Bout A Thing” and fresh arrangements of classics like “In A Sentimental Mood” where LeDonne dazzles us with his command of the piano. These are just 2 of our favorites before the hot finalé, “Alone Together”. The overall feel is great which results in a very engaging session.
