O’s Notes: Stefon plays vibes and leads a quintet focusing on Afro-Cuban jazz. The core of the band features Harris, David Sanchez (sax) and Christian Scott (t). They add several Cuban musicians in the rhythm section notably pianists Rember Duharte and Harold Löpez-Nudsa. Both contribute a couple of originals, as do Harris and Sanchez. We liked “E’cha”, “Black Action Figure” and “And This Too Shall Pass”. The vibe is hot and full of Latin energy but they take time to slow down on “The Forgotten Ones” featuring Sanchez. Stefon continues to expand his palate with yet another strong set over 2 discs.
