O’s Notes: This is a simple trio, John O’Reilly (d), Wayne Krantz (b) and leader guitarist Nicholas D’Amato. They play a very funky fusion that is crisp and energetic yet not overly congested. We liked the steady groove of “Pivot” and the solid bass work on “Ratio” vs. the spacey, free sounds of tunes like “Expanded” which tended to be heavy on distortion. It is a 39+ minute intro into the big time for The Royal Society and they enter full speed.
