O’s Notes: Drummer Franklin” Stix Bones” Brown is the leader of his namesake band in collaboration with percussionist Bob Beamon. And yes, that’s the Gold Medalist, long jumper from the 1968 Olympics who is making his recording debut at 77! That’s Olimpik Soul! There’s a lot of groove and chill music here like “Be Thankful” featuring vocalist Khadejia Bass, and “Dreams Come True”, an instrumental. Abiodun Oyewole delivers the message on “Price of Freedom”. There’s some good old-fashioned funky R&B on “Funkatonic”, and the groovin’ “Monday Madness”.
